Orphan Justice
As Director of International Developments at the Orphan Justice Center, Leonie is responsible for developing strategies to awaken, equip and mobilise the church in response to the global orphan crisis.
The major priorities are raising awareness of this global pandemic and sharing the biblical revelation that the church is part of the solution at a local, national and global level.
The work of Leonie and OJC has been recognised by the Department of Children and Families
Her role is diverse and multi-cultural involving working alongside local and international churches, pastors, social services, interns and political 'social justice' groups - raising awareness of the plight of orphans and unregistered minors who have been the victims of human trafficking.
The mission is to:
- Rescue: Mobilizing people across the globe to engage in the rescue of children
- Adopt: Calling the Church to a justice movement to nurture and care for the orphan
- Restore: To see children healed and walking in their destinies
Leonie and OJC's approach to equipping and mobilising the church to join this mission is:
- Start locally (own congregation/state)
- Invite local churches to carry out James 1:27 within their own local congregations
- Disseminate economic benefits of adoption versus of foster care
- Long term holistic benefits to the child and state
- Pray for local authorities and lobbyists to implement political reform to existing policies & legal structures
- Encourage churches/missions groups to implement child focused approach to long term child care
- Galvanize the outdated approach to institutionalized care of displaced and orphaned children (Psalm 68:5)
